QUILTS
Twins! Matched Pair 1930's Fabrics and Purple Aster or Sunflower Quilts
Rare to find such a beautifully matched pair! These beauties feature a wheel pattern of typical 1930's cotton print fabrics petals with a center of orchid purple, and another motif in the same purple with a center circle and four petals or points, and single petal from the purple border. There are 18 petals in each of the wheel aster or sunflower, and the tips are spiked rather than rounded like a Dresden Plate pattern. The effect is very art deco. Possibly pattern is The China Aster circa 1930. Exquisitely and very skillfully hand pieced and hand quilted 8 stitches to the inch, each of the two quilts measures 70" x 84". Backed with slightly deeper tone purple cotton, medium weight batting. These are in excellent condition--the only flaw I can find is two tiny darns about the size of a pencil eraser done in purple thread on one corner of the purple border of one quilt. Colors are bright, and there are no obvious stains or wear. I believe these were stored away for years and rarely used. I have not washed them.
